Karnasree Charitable Trust was founded with a simple yet powerful belief: every rural child deserves quality education, every family deserves healthcare, and every village deserves clean water.


Over two decades, we've built infrastructure, saved lives, and created opportunities that ripple through generations. Registered under 80G and FCRA, we serve Sidlaghatta and surrounding areas with compassion and efficiency.

Personal Profile: Shri D.R. Shivakumar Gowda

Visionary philanthropist, agriculturist, industrialist, and social activist born on July 2, 1963.

Childhood & Family Background

Son of Late Sri. M. Rangappa and Late Smt. M. Nagarathnamma, from a middle-class agriculturist family in Bangalore District. Has three sisters. A tragic flood on September 12, 1988, claimed his mother, relatives, and home, shaping his commitment to rural upliftment. Married Smt. K. Malini in 1989; blessed with two daughters (Smt. Geethana Nakshitha, Kum. Manasa Yashaswini) and one son (Mr. Shimanth S. Arjun). Family remains his backbone.

Education

Completed schooling at Vimanapura School, H.A.L., Bengaluru. Earned B.A. from Bangalore University. Actively participated in sports and cultural activities, winning prizes and earning praise from teachers for his talents and service-oriented spirit.

As an Agriculturist & Poultry Farmer

Began farming at age 9 in rain-fed areas, facing hardships without financial support or modern methods. After family shift to Yemalur, Bengaluru, continued poultry farming. The 1988 tragedy inspired resilient recovery, turning personal loss into community service.

Founded M/s. Kar Na Enterprises (1987) in Kolar for welding electrodes and lubricants. Expanded to M/s. Kar Na Sales Corporation (1991) for industrial gases. Developed 2000+ affordable sites via Friends Developers. Key projects: Karna Sree Layout, Mathru Sree Homes series, upcoming Kar Na Sree Haradi Sai Brindavan Township.

As a Philanthropist & Social Activist

Established Karnasree Charitable Trust (2004) for rural welfare. Initiatives: Free mineral water plant, community hall, statues of Kempegowda, Ambedkar, Avula Reddy; 1-acre land donation to Maruthi Education Trust; health camps, mass marriages, hysterectomy aid for 250+ women, Prathibha Puraskar awards, fruits/medicines to hospitals, financial aid for education, cancer/kidney patients, handicrafts, festivals. Conducted 450km Bangalore-Dharmasthala padayathra yearly; 350km village-to-village padayathra covering 350 villages. Visited Adichunchanagiri Matha, supported Ramzan fasting, Kaveri strike walks.

Political Career

Began as BJP worker in 2001 under N. Thimmareddy in Varthuru, Bangalore. 10 years as social worker via Karnasree Trust. Entered Kolar District BJP in 2011, Chikkaballapur Sidlaghatta in 2012. 2013 MLA candidate in KJP; rejoined BJP with Yediyurappa. Served as election observer for Lok Sabha, Assembly, ZP/TP, local bodies. Organized party events, advocated for farmers. Associated with leaders like D.S. Veerayya Bachhegowda (MLC), P.C. Mohan (Bangalore Central MP), Ananth Kumar (Bangalore South MP), Jagadish Shettar (ex-CM), Prahlad Joshi (ex-BJP President), Eishwarappa (ex-Deputy CM), Govinda Karajola (ex-Minister), Aravinda Limbavali (ex-Minister), Sadananda Gowda (Central Railway Minister), C.T. Ravi (ex-Minister). Led Raita Morcha strikes, implemented water facilities, supported BJP programs.
